a golden opportunity.

a golden opportunity.

Ever have those days when you feel so small? It’s almost as if you’re going about your life busy as can be, you’re exhausting all of your energy and resources… Sometimes, working hard… Other times, hardly working. But in the grand scheme of things we all have a tendency to feel like we just don’t matter all that much. As I was looking through the view finder of my camera, I zoomed in on this little finch, and was taken by him. He was just as cute as could be. There he was in his own world, going about life completely clueless that he mattered so much to me. Everything about him brought joy to my heart. In the simplicity of his existence, he found contentment. In the Bible there is a message Paul is giving to his younger apprentice, Timothy… He tells him (and it applies to us too)

“Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.”

~ I Timothy 6:6-11

When I observe this picture, I am reminded of the simplicity that is found in Christ Jesus… Our Great God who cares for all of our needs. I am reminded of the peace that can be found when we have our hearts washed and cleansed with the Water of the Word. In the moments of loneliness when we feel like our lives are pointless and worthless… when we feel like no one really cares where we’re at or what we’re doing… REMEMBER this… God Almighty is looking through His viewfinder… He’s focused in on you… He’s delighting in you… YES, YOU… His beloved. When you find you’re having a day where you feel like you’re all alone with no one who cares… Remember, this is your golden opportunity. It’s right about now that God is looking upon you with a smile from ear to ear… Lift your head up and smile back.

  1. Hello Amiejoy,

Thank you for your beautiful post and the thought of our awesome God, zooming in on us and capturing our hearts with his love. I particularly loved this sentence, “God Almighty is looking through His viewfinder… He’s focused in on you… He’s delighting in you… YES, YOU… His beloved.” A lovely way to start my day. God bless and enjoy blogging.

    • God see’s fit to equip and use each of us. He then places us in a position that allows that gifting to be used and shared. Because my wife is not able to travel with me, God gives her with insight into things all around us, that I am usually too busy to see. Thanks Lovie, for hearing from Him and sharing it with the rest of us.
